The second wave of the Pokémon 30th-anniversary collection is scheduled to launch on Friday, October 2, 2020. This follows the initial release of the sets on September 16. The new wave includes three different formats: a set with six boosters, mini tins with ten models split into Day and Night themes, and a folder containing five boosters and a special 30th-anniversary-themed folder. Each mini tin includes two boosters, a sticker sheet, and an artistic card featuring the box illustration. Collecting all ten illustrations allows users to piece together two complete scenes.
The folder format is designed to help collectors start and organize their collection. If someone already owns a folder, they receive an extra booster. The largest sets, including the Ultra-Premium boxes in Day and Night versions, will be available later in the autumn. These boxes contain 29 boosters from the expansion, a special Collection Classic booster with three cards, promotional cards, a playing mat, and other accessories. The Classic Collection features 30 iconic cards, including the well-known Charizard from the Base Set.
The expansion also includes 30 illustrations of Pikachu, with one guaranteed in each booster. It introduces a new rarity called "futuristic rare," signed by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN. The search for the three Mew "RGB" cards—available in red, green, and blue and illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN—is already among the most desired in the expansion. These secret cards, due to their rarity and initial resale prices of several thousand dollars, have fueled excitement and demand for the boxes.
