Ukraine depends on Starlink

For Ukraine, "it is complicated to do without Starlink, there is no equivalent constellation," estimates Ulrich Bounat, a geopolitical analyst, on the France 24 program. The Starlink satellite internet service, provided by SpaceX, has become crucial for maintaining communication in areas affected by the ongoing conflict with Russia.

U.S. intelligence also relies on Starlink

"Volodymyr Zelensky cannot afford to cut the cord with the United States, but there is a reality: the Americans are no longer an ally," Bounat added. This suggests that U.S. intelligence agencies also rely on the Starlink network for real-time data and communication in the region.

U.S. role in doubt

The analyst's comments highlight a growing uncertainty about the United States' role in supporting Ukraine. While Zelensky remains closely tied to the U.S., the perception of American reliability as an ally has shifted, raising questions about the long-term strategic relationship.

Europe’s potential role

It remains to be seen whether Europeans will continue to compensate for the departure of the Americans. The European Union and individual European countries have been increasing their support for Ukraine, but whether they can fully replace the U.S. in terms of military, economic, and political backing is still uncertain.
