Forest fire breaks out in Cuébris

A forest fire began in Cuébris, a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes region of southeastern France, on Monday, October 26, at 11:20 a.m., according to the local fire and rescue service.

Fire damages homes and land

The fire burned through an area of 3,000 square meters and left 130 private homes in the commune without electricity, affecting local residents and infrastructure.

Firefighters and specialists respond

Twenty-five firefighters and nine personnel from Force, an operational force specializing in environmental disaster risks in the Alpes-Maritimes, were deployed to the fire to help contain it.

Fire spreads through vegetation

The fire is intensifying, affecting a layer of coniferous trees and shrubs, which are common in the region and can fuel fast-spreading wildfires.

Containment efforts underway

The right flank edges of the fire are being treated using bucket pumps by two forest fire water tank trucks, as per the departmental fire and rescue service, while Force personnel are focusing on "the head of the fire," the main point of origin and spread.

Power line proximity raises concerns

A high-voltage power line is located near the fire, prompting firefighters to work with Enedis, the French electricity distribution company, to ensure the safety of the teams and prevent potential electrical hazards.
