Despite allowing an 18-point lead to slip during the game, Doncic led his team to victory, concluding a 14-5 run in the fourth quarter with two consecutive three-pointers, allowing his team to regain the lead (127-121) with 1 minute and 42 seconds remaining.

Austin Reaves also shone with 29 points, while the two players converted 21 of their 24 free throws. JJ Redick praised Doncic, stating, "When he is in this optimal state of concentration, he becomes a showman. He is performing on the stage and it is always pleasant to watch." Collin Sexton added, "I have already been on the opposing team when Luka Doncic couldn't miss a shot. It is definitely better to be on his side."

Doncic's historic achievement

Doncic's performance marked the fourth game of his career with at least 50 points and 10 assists, surpassing Nikola Jokic, Russell Westbrook, Damian Lillard, and Nate Archibald, and approaching James Harden, who holds the record with eight such games. Additionally, Doncic became the second player in NBA history to record a 50-point and 10-assist game while playing for two different franchises, after Wilt Chamberlain.

Jazz fall short despite strong effort

The Jazz struggled to overcome the Lakers despite a strong performance by Lauri Markkanen, who finished as his team's top scorer with 28 points, while Keyonte George compiled 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 10 assists. Ace Bailey recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 steals. Walker Kessler, returning to his former venue, had a difficult evening with only 2 points and 7 rebounds.

Doncic credits team for comeback

Doncic credited his teammates for helping create the 18-point comeback, stating, "I wouldn't say it was me. I think it was the whole group and we showed a lot of character, a lot of heart." The Lakers have started their season ideally with a record of 3 wins and 0 losses. They will attempt to continue their streak on Tuesday at home against the Portland Trail Blazers.
