Car Jaune extends 50% subscription discounts on La Réunion until 2026, easing travel costs for regular commuters.
Subscription discount extended
A 50% reduction on Car Jaune paid subscriptions has been extended until December 31, 2026, on La Réunion. The reduction, originally set to end on October 31, was extended after a decision by the permanent commission of the regional council on October 23.Travelers retain reduced rates
Travelers who regularly travel to Saint-Denis from the East or West retain the reduced rates for their trips. The local authority renewed the measure under the same conditions, as indicated in its communiqué on the permanent commission. The announcement comes at a time when fuel prices are affecting the budgets of households on Reunion Island.Discount details for subscriptions
For travelers under the general rate, the monthly subscription remains at 19 euros instead of 38 euros. The quarterly package costs 50 euros instead of the usual 100 euros, and the annual subscription 180 euros instead of 360 euros.Discount applies to youth and all subscription types
The reduced rates also apply to young people under 26 years of age: 7.50 euros per month instead of 15 euros, 15 euros per quarter instead of 30 euros and 35 euros per year instead of 70 euros. The discount applies to monthly, quarterly and annual paid subscriptions. It does not change the price of the single ticket, which remains fixed at 2 euros per trip. The free travel arrangements for certain groups are also maintained.Subscriptions more cost-effective for frequent travelers
For a person making regular trips, the choice between single tickets and subscriptions depends on the number of journeys. A general public monthly subscription at 19 euros is equivalent, for comparison, to nine and a half single tickets at the unit rate. The discount is therefore particularly interesting for workers and students who frequently use the intercity lines.Improved transport services
The Saint-Denis road station is a major transit point for travel between the living areas of the island. Since the strengthening of the offer launched in August, the O2 lines to Saint-Paul and E2 lines to Saint-André offer, on the relevant sections, a passage every fifteen minutes during peak hours.Increased subscription sales
The Region announced 74 additional journeys across the entire network and the deployment of 16 new vehicles. The first results communicated by the local authority show an increase in subscriptions affected by the price reduction. Between May and September 2026, 8,327 subscriptions were sold, an average of 1,665 per month, compared to 991 monthly from January to April. This 68 percent increase describes the change in sales over these two periods; it does not measure alone the share attributable to the discount. How to subscribe and renew
People who wish to subscribe to a subscription can go to one of the 12 information and sales points Car Jaune with an identity document to have their card issued. Subscribers can then renew their title on site or online, through the recharge services available on the network portal.Automatic extension for existing subscribers
Car Jaune also notes that holders of an existing subscription at the time of the implementation of the operation have benefited from an automatic extension of validity, the duration of which depends on the title. A simulator is available on its website to check this situation. The customer service can be reached at 02 62 81 82 83, Monday to Friday from 7 am to 7 pm, excluding public holidays.Additional months for regular users
The maintenance of the discount until the end of the year offers two additional months for regular users. To find out the times and any possible disruptions before departure, travelers can check the traffic information and the route of their line on the Car Jaune website.
