Marseille transport pricing changes in November 2026

Starting November 1, 2026, public transport users in Marseille and surrounding areas will face a new pricing system for buses, metros, and trams. The Solo ticket will cost 2 euros, while other options will vary based on age, income, and travel zones.

New ticket prices and options

The official pricing grid from RTM sets a Solo ticket at 2 euros and a ticket bought on board at 2.50 euros. Ten trips will cost 16 euros, and a 24-hour pass is 6.70 euros. Rechargeable cards will see trips cost 1.60 euros, with a reduced rate of 0.80 euros for those on the solidarity rate.

Subscription costs for adults

Adults aged 26 to 64 will pay 45.70 euros per month for a permanent subscription in the blue zone, 56.50 euros for a 30-day pass, and 548 euros annually. Some employees may have their subscriptions covered by their employers, depending on company policies.

Zones and travel coverage

The blue zone includes Marseille, Allauch, Plan-de-Cuques, and Septèmes-les-Vallons, while the yellow zone covers other parts of the metropolitan area. The full formula allows access to additional services like the TER, which is important for people traveling to Aix-en-Provence or Vitrolles.

New social subscription for eligible groups

A 20 euro annual subscription will be available for certain groups, including students aged 11 to 25 on scholarships, people over 65 who are non-taxable, and recipients of the adult disability allowance (AAH). Eligibility and required documents vary by individual profile.

Impact on students and reimbursement plans

Students who previously paid 110 euros for an annual subscription may now save 90 euros with the new 20 euro pass. The Metropolis plans a reimbursement campaign for affected students, though details and timelines are still to be confirmed.

Special rates for children and young adults

Children under 11 continue to travel for free, with named cards available from age six. Students aged 18 to 25 not eligible for the solidarity rate will pay 200 euros annually for a blue zone subscription, depending on their status and the network used.

Senior travel changes and reduced rates

Travelers over 65 who don’t qualify for the solidarity pass will get reduced-rate subscriptions. The current free travel for seniors will end gradually over 12 months, with personalized information provided to affected users.

Family and social benefits for adults

Family quotient reductions for adults aged 26 to 64 will take effect in September 2027. Existing social programs remain in place until then, and those on solidarity health insurance without financial contributions can access preferential travel rates.

Resources for checking and applying

Travelers can find detailed information about new RTM tariffs and subscription conditions on the official website. Those who have already purchased tickets may be eligible for reimbursements once official procedures are published.
