A former ballboy who was once accidentally kicked by Eden Hazard has sold his vodka brand to a major US-based drinks company. Charlie Morgan, who was working as a ballboy for Swansea City in 2013 when Hazard struck him during a match against Chelsea, co-founded Au Vodka with Jackson Quinn in 2015. The incident, which went viral online, became a memorable moment in football history and later inspired the name of Morgan’s vodka brand, which means "to the" in French. Au Vodka, known for its eye-catching gold bottle design, has grown rapidly since its launch. The brand now employs more than 80 people in South Wales and has become a notable name in the spirits industry. It has been reported that Morgan and Quinn sold the company to Sazerac, a large US-based drinks corporation, for approximately £300 million. However, the exact financial details of the deal have not been officially confirmed. Jake Wenz, CEO of Sazerac, stated that the company has long admired Au Vodka and praised the work of Morgan, Quinn, and DJ Charlie Sloth, who provided early financial support. Wenz said the acquisition would allow the brand to continue expanding globally. Sazerac, which generates about $6 billion in annual sales, owns several other well-known brands, including BuzzBallz and Southern Comfort. Morgan reflected on the journey of building Au Vodka from an idea to a successful business. He and Quinn started the company with "nothing but an idea and a belief that vodka didn't have to be boring." He expressed pride in having helped create one of the most innovative and disruptive brands of this generation. The sale marks a significant milestone for Morgan, who turned a challenging moment from his past into a thriving business venture.
