Mark Gurman, a journalist known for his coverage of Apple for Bloomberg, launched a weekly podcast called Power On with Mark Gurman on Thursday, October 1st. In the first episode, he suggested that Apple might introduce its first touchscreen MacBook Pro this autumn, possibly as early as October, though there could be a delay until November. Gurman mentioned that Apple is currently testing the device using macOS 27.2, a version that developers have received in recent weeks. He had previously indicated that the launch might be pushed back to early 2027, but recent developments suggest a possible earlier release. The new MacBook Pro would feature an OLED display, a type of screen where each pixel emits its own light, offering deeper blacks and more vibrant colors compared to traditional LCD screens. The device might also be rebranded as the MacBook Ultra. Apple typically unveils new Mac models between late October and early November, a timing that aligns with the potential release window for this redesigned laptop. This change has been anticipated for some time; a prototype of the MacBook Pro 14 M5, released at the end of 2025, was seen as the last model before the redesign. Apple’s product development timeline has been moving quickly. In July, Bloomberg reported that a MacBook Pro with the M7 chip might arrive earlier than expected. Before the Macs, Apple plans to introduce new products on October 13th, including an updated Apple TV 4K, a new HomePod mini, and a home control screen informally called HomePad. These releases highlight Apple’s ongoing efforts to expand its product lineup across various categories, from computing to home automation.
