Event showcases new film projects
Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event will present 16 new film projects at its Works in Progress showcase on 19 November. These films are currently in production or post-production and are seeking sales agents and festival premieres. Showcase highlights diverse themes and regions
The event’s line-up is divided into three sections: Baltic Event Works in Progress, International Works in Progress, and Just Film Works in Progress. These sections highlight both emerging filmmakers and established directors, with themes ranging from family relations to freedom and belonging. International films explore empathy and culture
The International Works in Progress section includes six films from Europe and Asia. These projects explore empathy and understanding across cultures and stages of life. For example, Spanish director Marina Palacio’s And So It Will Go On tells a drama in reverse, while Japanese director Josh Trigg’s Leopard Spots examines a mother’s fear of abandonment. Baltic films focus on regional storytelling
The Baltic Event Works in Progress section features five films from the region. These include A Midnight Pilgrimage, a tragicomedy by Estonian director Katrin Ruus, and Concrete Music, a film by Lithuanian director Saulius Baradinskas about a teenager fleeing a mafia family. Projects for younger audiences explore identity
The Just Film Works in Progress strand presents five projects for younger audiences. These films explore themes like childhood, identity, and family. For instance, Norwegian filmmaker Torfinn Iversen’s Uncle Egg follows a 12-year-old boy traveling to Germany with his uncle. Awards to support selected projects
The event includes awards for the best projects in the Baltic and International sections, offering post-production services and travel allowances. The Just Film Works in Progress winner will receive a monetary prize to help with promotion and publicity. List of selected projects
The complete list of projects includes The Elderly Store from Kyrgyzstan, Luci Looped in Limbo from France, and Without You from Denmark, among others. Each project is produced by different teams and represents a range of nationalities and creative approaches.
