Resident Evil Requiem, released in February 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, continues to break commercial records for Capcom. According to the latest estimates from Alinea Analytics, the title has generated over 500 million dollars in revenue since its launch, surpassing all other games in the series. This success occurs during a period of strong performance for Capcom, which recorded record sales in the previous fiscal year and aims to exceed these results in 2026. With more than 8 million copies sold to date, Resident Evil Requiem has become the most profitable game in the franchise, surpassing the remake of Resident Evil 4, which had reached 600 million dollars after three years of sales. The experience, centered on the intertwined journeys of FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy, offers an immersive survival horror experience punctuated by intense action, all set in a horrifying environment designed to leave a lasting impression on players. The PlayStation 5 significantly dominates gaming platforms, hosting 48.1 percent of the 8.5 million registered players, ahead of Steam, which accounts for 43.4 percent. Of the 4 million copies sold on PS5, 30.8 percent correspond to physical versions, despite the shift toward a digital ecosystem. This popularity can be partially explained by the historical affinity of the series with Sony's console, whose confined environments and tight camera angles naturally resonate with the Resident Evil experience. The impact of the Resident Evil movie, released in theaters shortly before the game, was limited on direct sales of the title. Although the film recorded an opening record with over 108 million dollars in worldwide box office revenue, it did not generate a significant increase in purchases of Resident Evil Requiem. However, the game benefited from a 20 percent increase in its daily users after the movie's release. This dynamic also affected other titles in the franchise, notably the remake of Resident Evil 2, whose sales have increased by 48 percent since the film's release. Resident Evil 3, although less acclaimed, has recorded a 25 percent increase in its audience.
