Gabon has introduced a new national digital platform named ProxiGab, designed to connect entrepreneurs, financiers, and support organizations. The goal is to increase the visibility of business projects and help small companies access necessary resources. The platform was officially launched on October 2, 2026, by Zenaba Gninga Chaning, the minister of Commerce, SMEs, and Youth Entrepreneurship, as reported by local media. Developed by the National Agency for Digital and Financial Infrastructure (ANINF), ProxiGab allows entrepreneurs to showcase their projects, search for funding, and connect with potential partners and investors. It aims to bridge the gap between the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the resources available from banks, investors, and other stakeholders. Access to financing has long been a challenge for young companies in Gabon. To address this, the government announced a program in August 2026 aimed at supporting 400 young entrepreneurs with up to 180 million CFA francs (approximately 307,000 U.S. dollars). This initiative involves the Gabon Guarantee Company (SGG) and the microfinance institution Savings and Development of Gabon (EDG). The program is designed to make it easier for small businesses to obtain financing while reducing the financial risk for institutions through guarantees provided by the SGG. ProxiGab is also expected to enhance the visibility of business projects and help entrepreneurs find partners and support solutions. Mark-Alexandre Doumba, the minister of Digital Economy, Digitization, and Innovation, stated that the platform will aid in the development of local subcontracting and better align supply with demand in the market. The platform was first introduced to the public on January 23, 2026, and its future success will depend on how widely it is adopted by businesses and other players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. For the government, the main challenge now is to ensure that this digital platform becomes an effective tool for connecting and supporting new and existing projects.
