Hisense recently unveiled its new UXS television series, marking a significant step in the evolution of high-end home display technology. These models, part of the brand’s latest innovation, use an LCD panel paired with a Mini LED backlight system. What sets them apart is the inclusion of a cyan light source in addition to the traditional red, green, and blue (RGB) components, forming a new RGB-C technology. This advancement, previously referred to as RGB Mini LED evo, is now being marketed under the names UR9S and UR8S. The technology is designed to enhance color accuracy and realism on the screen.
To achieve this, Hisense has introduced a new system called Chromagic 2.0, which expands the range of colors that can be displayed. According to the manufacturer, this system allows the TVs to cover up to 110% of the BT.2020 color space, a standard used for high-definition broadcasting and cinema. The TVs also feature over 40,000 control zones—tiny segments of the screen that can be individually adjusted to fine-tune brightness and color. This level of precision helps create more natural and accurate images.
In addition to hardware improvements, the UXS series includes several artificial intelligence (AI) features. AI RGB Colour Dimming and AI RGB Colour Peaking technologies work in real time to optimize color reproduction and brightness based on the content being viewed. A feature called Eye Comfort also reduces the amount of blue light emitted in the 415 to 455 nanometer range, which is known to cause eye strain during long viewing sessions. The TVs also offer a native refresh rate of 180 Hz, enhanced by the Motion Clarity function, and an AI-controlled RGB light sensor that adjusts the image based on ambient lighting conditions.
Hisense is positioning the UXS series as the next generation of its 116UX models, which were previously seen at a trade show in Las Vegas. While the current models are large and expensive, the company suggests that more practical sizes and more affordable prices may be introduced in the future. The 116UXS model is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2026 with a suggested retail price of 16,999 euros, while the price for the 100-inch 100UXS model has yet to be confirmed. Until then, the UXS series remains a promising but still premium option for those seeking cutting-edge television technology.
