Florent Oiseau has been awarded the Françoise Sagan 2026 Prize for his novel Ma gloire, published by Gallimard. The prize was announced on Tuesday, September 22, during an evening event held at the Grand Hôtel Cayré in Paris. Ma gloire, published in January 2026, follows a man recently fired and without particular ambitions as he moves through the working-class neighborhoods of Paris between small trades and nights of wandering. His life is structured by his attachment to his wife Almeria and their daughter Lune. When he agrees to play the role of a fairy in the school's end-of-year show, this unexpected situation opens the possibility of change. The jury selected the novel for "the originality of the voice" of Florent Oiseau, as well as for his perspective on ordinary characters and the freedom of his writing. Born in 1990, the author published several novels after starting with Allary editions. With Ma gloire, he joins the Gallimard catalog. Created in 2009 by Denis Westhoff, son of Françoise Sagan, the prize annually awards a work of fiction in the French language, either a novel or a collection of short stories, published since the beginning of the previous year. It favors authors who are less known and whose work has not recently received an important literary prize. The selection is made by the jury members, who each propose a work before three deliberation meetings and a final vote. The 2026 jury includes Sophie Delassein, Aline Zalko, Carole Chrétiennot, Pierre-Olivier Sur, Emmanuelle Brame, Denis Westhoff, Nathalie Azoulai, Sandrine Babu, Gaëlle Bidan, Sophie Galabru, Joffrine Donnadieu, and Anne Consigny. The winner of the Françoise-Sagan 2025 Prize was Célestin de Meeûs for his first novel Mythologie du 12, published by Éditions du Sous-sol. Ma gloire was published on January 15, 2026, by Gallimard, and contains 176 pages. The Françoise Sagan Prize, named after the renowned French writer Françoise Sagan, has become an important platform for emerging authors in French literature, offering recognition and support to writers whose work may not have yet received major awards. The prize reflects a commitment to discovering and promoting new voices in literature, ensuring a diverse and dynamic literary landscape.
