Villagers in Skelmanthorpe, a small village in West Yorkshire, recently helped police detain a man suspected of using a bow and arrow to damage cars in a busy street. The incident occurred on Huddersfield Road around 5:30 pm on Tuesday, when a man was seen throwing rubbish and household items from his car. Witnesses reported that he then got out of the vehicle and began firing arrows at nearby cars, causing damage. Armed police quickly arrived at the scene, where the man had already been restrained by members of the public. He was arrested by local officers at 5:58 pm. No injuries were reported during the incident. The man, who is 68 years old, was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place. Detective Chief Inspector Oliver Coates commented on the incident, stating that it would have caused concern in the community due to its seriousness and the fact that it occurred in a busy area, witnessed by many people. He added that an increased police presence would remain in the area throughout the evening as authorities examined the scene. Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the event or has video footage to contact the police to assist with the investigation.
