A series created by Taylor Sheridan, Mayor of Kingstown, will be added to Netflix's catalog starting October 5 next year. The show, a police drama set in a prison environment in Michigan, stars Jeremy Renner and includes actors such as Lennie James, Edie Falco, Aidan Gillen, Kyle Chandler, James Jordan, and Hugh Dillon, who is also a co-creator of the series. The series, which has four seasons, is one of Taylor Sheridan's longest-running creations, just behind Yellowstone (5 seasons) and soon to be equal with Tulsa King, which will begin its fourth season on October 16 next year. Mayor of Kingstown has a rating of 4.1 out of 5 on AlloCiné, a French review website. The show was once threatened with cancellation following a domestic accident involving its main actor but maintained its production and confirmed strong ratings. A fifth and final season is already being filmed, with a broadcast expected in 2027 on Paramount+. This final season will wrap up the story that has drawn a dedicated audience over the years. The first four seasons of Mayor of Kingstown will join other series by Taylor Sheridan available on Netflix, such as Yellowstone, its prequels 1883 and 1923, as well as the film Those Who Want Me Dead that he directed. These projects have contributed to Taylor Sheridan's reputation as a writer and creator of intense, character-driven stories often set in the American West or in gritty, real-world environments. The addition of Mayor of Kingstown to Netflix’s lineup reflects the platform’s continued interest in high-profile, serialized drama. With its mix of strong performances, complex storytelling, and a loyal fanbase, the show is expected to attract both new and returning viewers. The release of the final season on Paramount+ in 2027 will mark the end of a significant chapter in the series’ development.
