New MacBook Pro design announced

Apple plans to reveal a completely redesigned MacBook Pro at its upcoming “Tell and Pro” conference, five years after the M1 Pro and M1 Max models first introduced a major redesign. The new version will keep the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, already in use, but the older M1 design will no longer be produced.

Lighter and more compact

According to journalist Mark Gurman, the new MacBook Pro will be significantly lighter, thanks to smaller components and better internal organization. The laptop will keep all its ports, including HDMI, SD card reader, and MagSafe charging, which were reintroduced in 2021.

OLED screens debut on MacBooks

The new MacBook Pro will be the first Apple laptop to use OLED screens. This technology, previously introduced on the iPad Pro in 2024, was described by Apple as "the most advanced screen in the world." This marks the end of the mini-LED technology used in previous models.

Touch surface and new interface features

The new MacBook Pro will include a touch surface that supports gestures and finger interactions, though the experience won’t match that of iPadOS. It will feature the Dynamic Island, a design first seen on the iPhone, replacing the traditional notch with an interactive pill-shaped interface for managing tasks like timers, music, calls, and notifications.
