Anniversary update planned

The Pokémon Pocket collectible card game will celebrate its second anniversary on October 30, 2026. Developers Creatures Inc. and DeNA are preparing a major update with new ways to play and features aimed at making collecting and battles more accessible and enjoyable.

Release schedule changes

In a letter published on the official Pokémon website on October 15, 2026, the team addressed concerns from collectors about the release schedule of expansions. Until now, boosters were released every four weeks, but the large number of cards in each pack made collection difficult, according to player feedback.

New release cycle

The release cycle of boosters will shift from approximately four weeks to six weeks. This change should give players more time to complete their collections before new boosters arrive, reducing the feeling of being overwhelmed by the pace of releases.

Enhanced events and features

Coinciding with the new release cycle, the developers plan to expand events and missions around collecting and battle experiences. Features will be updated to allow players to enjoy more content during the six-week period before the next booster release.

Series C update

These changes will be introduced with series C, which will begin in late October 2026. The exact date has not been announced, and the developers note that the content and schedule of the update may still change.

New ways to collect rare cards

Pokémon TCG Pocket will also make it easier to collect rare cards. Immersive cards are special animated cards that were previously mostly obtained by chance, with a rate of about 1% per booster.

Special boosters and missions

Players will still be able to find immersive cards in the boosters of the new series, but they can also be obtained through missions that involve completing collections. Special boosters called "First Partners" will include cards dedicated to starter Pokémon from the nine regions of the franchise.

Battle and deck-building updates

The developers also plan new features for battles and deck building. Three 1-star promo cards, linked by a common theme, will be available through weekly missions over three weeks. Players can discover popular community decks and recreate them using their own cards.

Improved exchanges and battles

Exchanges and card sharing will be improved, allowing players to view missing cards in a partner’s Cartodex, regardless of rarity. Players can also check which cards a recipient is looking for before sharing one with them. Additionally, double-type Pokémon will appear in battles.
