Stellantis gains traction in Europe

Stellantis, a major carmaker, is seeing renewed success in Europe, with increased sales driven by brands like Fiat and Citroën, and support from its Chinese partner Leapmotor. The company has been making progress since January 2026, with several popular models contributing to its growth.

Sales figures show growth

From January to September 2026, Stellantis sold 1,927 million vehicles in the EU30 zone, a 3% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Including Leapmotor, the total sales rose to 2,014 million units, with a 6.8% increase and a market share of 16.9%.

Fiat and Citroën lead the way

Within Stellantis' lineup, Fiat has the highest growth, with a 20% increase in sales. Citroën follows closely with an 8.6% rise. Other brands like Lancia and Opel also show positive growth. The group’s models dominate segments for small city cars and versatile vehicles in Italy, where the Fiat Pandina is the top-selling car.

Performance varies by country

Stellantis sees strong growth in several European countries, with a 20.9% increase in Austria and 8.1% in Poland. The UK and Germany also show positive trends, though Spain only sees a 0.8% rise. In France, the company remains the market leader, with Peugeot and Citroën performing well.

Market context and Leapmotor’s role

New car registrations across the European Union rose by 5.3% in the first eight months of 2026, with classical hybrids making up the largest share of sales. Leapmotor, Stellantis’ Chinese partner, is expanding rapidly, with over 100,000 monthly global deliveries and a growing sales network across Europe. However, the exact contribution of Leapmotor to Stellantis’ European sales remains unclear.
