Capcom, a well-known video game developer, is set to release several remakes of its popular Resident Evil series on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16. The release includes the 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2, the 2020 remake of Resident Evil 3, and the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4. These games are being made available ahead of the planned release of a remake of Code: Veronica, which is expected to come out sometime next year. Capcom has had a successful few years, with three of its 2026 releases—Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword—being named among the best games of the year. These titles have helped solidify the company's position in the gaming industry. The Nintendo eShop will also include downloadable content (DLC) for Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4. For Resident Evil 4, this means the inclusion of the Separate Ways expansion, which provides a new perspective on the story by following Ada Wong, a character who has a complicated romantic relationship with the game's main protagonist, Leon Kennedy. Resident Evil 2 has sold over 19 million copies, making it one of the most popular entries in the series. While many fans may have already played the game, the decision to bring it to the Nintendo Switch 2 along with Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 gives players an opportunity to revisit the series and get familiar with the characters and storylines before the upcoming Resident Evil: Veronica release. Resident Evil: Veronica is a remake of Code: Veronica, originally released in 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast. This new version will follow the events of Resident Evil 2, focusing on Claire Redfield, a co-protagonist in the original game. Claire’s story centers on her search for her brother, Chris Redfield, who is also a frequent protagonist in the Resident Evil series. The remake aims to bring the classic story to new audiences while offering updated graphics and gameplay for modern consoles.
