Minecraft Live 2026, organized by Mojang Studios, brought several major updates for the globally popular sandbox game Minecraft. One of the highlights was the announcement of Minecraft Dungeons II, set to launch on September 29, 2026, across multiple platforms including PC (via Steam and Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, as well as Xbox Game Pass (Ultimate and PC). The game will support solo or cooperative play for up to four players and will introduce new content such as a range of treasures, mobs, and new regions. A new dimension called The Sift will be included, marking the first new dimension added to Minecraft in 14 years. This dimension will be integrated into the original Minecraft (Java and Bedrock) versions in 2027, following the Surface, Nether, and End dimensions. The Sift will feature multiple biomes, including a desert biome known as the Carapace. The game's structure will be improved, transitioning from linear missions to an interconnected, open world with enhanced exploration features, including the ability to jump for greater verticality and dynamic combat. The inventory system will also be updated to include talismans, a new type of item providing passive bonuses. Additionally, several upcoming DLCs will be available to explore new locations. Alongside Minecraft Dungeons II, the event also introduced a new biome called the Ice Caves, which is expected to be available in the coming months and will enter a testing phase. The Ice Caves will allow players to explore frozen caverns, with new ice blocks providing natural light and creative possibilities. The caves will react to light sources such as torches, which could melt stalactites and cause damage. New threats such as frozen zombies will be present, and players will be able to mine minerals quickly due to the fragility of the structures. Useful items such as ice balls and frozen potions will be obtainable, which can be used in player versus player (PvP) combat to slow down opponents and increase damage. Mojang Studios also announced the development of a theme park dedicated to the Minecraft universe, set to open in 2027 at the Chessington World of Adventures Resort in London. The park will feature a roller coaster called Escape The Neither and a themed hotel called the Minecraft Hotel, which will open alongside the park. No further details were provided at the event regarding the park's attractions or ticketing information. The announcements at Minecraft Live 2026 highlight Mojang Studios' continued commitment to expanding the Minecraft universe across multiple platforms and formats, from video games to theme parks. These updates aim to provide players with new experiences and environments, keeping the game relevant and engaging for both longtime fans and newcomers.
