Mojang Studios has announced the upcoming release of The World of Minecraft, the first official artbook dedicated to the popular sandbox video game. Scheduled for November 5, 2026, the French edition of the book will be published by Mana Books and will be available in France. It will contain 224 pages and measure 23.5 x 30 centimeters. The French version is a translation of the English edition, which was released by Random House on October 15, 2024. The book will be priced at 39.90 €. The World of Minecraft will feature a collection of concept art, detailed images, and previously unseen archives that document the first fifteen years of the game. It will trace the journey of Minecraft from its origins as an independent project to its current status as a global cultural phenomenon. The book includes exclusive interviews with Mojang employees and insights from members of the Minecraft community. It will also feature a preface by Jens Bergensten, the creative director of Mojang, and a postface by Agnes Larsson, the director of Minecraft vanilla, which refers to the original, unmodified version of the game. The artbook will explore the evolution of Minecraft, starting with its initial development by Markus "Notch" Persson and continuing through its global influence today. It will also cover the creation of popular mods like Feed the Beast, the rise of large multiplayer servers such as Hypixel, and the impact of YouTube channels like The Yogscast, which has grown alongside the game’s popularity. The book will also delve into the origins of in-game elements such as the phantom, a creature that appears in the game's night-time environment, and the creation of the character Alex, as told by Lydia Winters, a member of Mojang's creative team. Additionally, it will highlight the charitable initiative Block by Block, which uses Minecraft to help communities design real-world projects. Mojang has also announced that in 2027, it will introduce the first new dimension to Minecraft since 2011. This new dimension, called Sift, is expected to bring fresh gameplay elements and environments to the game, continuing its long tradition of expansion and innovation.
