Event details and participants

The fifth edition of the Atimaono Cross triathlon took place on October 18, 2026, in the commune of Papara, bringing together approximately 80 participants. Organized by the all-female Vahine Tri club under the auspices of the Tahitian Federation, the event featured four races, with nearly 80 athletes participating across the different formats.

Course and conditions

The competition was held on a new "more technical" course near the sea, with optimal weather conditions. The event was one of the last before the Xterra on Moorea, scheduled for November 7 and 8.

Winners of the main event

Jean-Marc Rimaud of the Kona Tri club won the main event on the S distance (500 m swimming, 11 km mountain bike, 4 km running), leading from the start and maintaining his advantage throughout the race. He completed the course in just under an hour.

Other notable performances

Adélaïde Treujou of the Kona Tri club also secured a victory, despite a fall during the mountain bike section, finishing in just over an hour and ten minutes. Her performance allowed her to achieve a Top 20 overall.

Other races and formats

The day began with the XS format (250 m swimming, 5 km mountain bike, 2 km running), which was won by Jules Hotellier, who had previously won the Punaauia duathlon in early October. The main event on the S distance brought together more than thirty athletes.

Event goals and additional activities

The Vahine Tri club's president, Cécile Do Huu, noted that the event aimed to attract individuals not necessarily familiar with triathlon and to introduce them to the sport. Three teams also participated in a relay race. The youngest athletes, aged 6 to 11 years, closed the day with a running race that provided suspense for the spectators.

Future events and training

The Atimaono Cross triathlon served as a good training opportunity for participants ahead of the XTerra on Moorea. Additionally, a swimrun event is planned for Saturday, October 31, in Rangiroa in the Tuamotu archipelago, organized by the Team Tiputa club, with registration open until October 26.
