Emirates, a major international airline, has opened a new lounge at Terminal 2 of Manchester Airport. This marks the first British location to feature the airline's latest lounge concept, which emphasizes on-site food preparation and allows passengers to board their flights directly from the lounge. The lounge was unveiled on September 24 and is an extension of a concept already used in other European locations like Munich and Frankfurt. Emirates has made over 50 design changes, including separate areas for work, dining, and relaxation, power outlets, wireless charging, renovated showers, and a quiet zone. The airline says it is the only one at Manchester Airport to offer direct boarding from the lounge to the aircraft. The lounge's dining options, included with access, feature made-to-order meals and international cuisine. A special Made in Manchester menu highlights local dishes such as meat and potato pie from Wigan, seafood from Fleetwood, and cheeses from Cheshire. At the bar, Emirates serves coffees decorated with a bee, a symbol of Manchester, along with cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks inspired by the local area. This opening is part of a larger transformation of Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport. The airport estimates its renovation program at 1.5 billion pounds (around 1.7 billion euros), a project that began more than ten years ago. The terminal has more than doubled in size as part of this long-term development. Emirates currently operates three daily flights between Manchester and Dubai, totaling 21 flights per week. These flights are operated using Airbus A380 aircraft, though schedules and aircraft may vary. The new lounge supports the existing route, which is already served multiple times a day, rather than introducing a new flight path. The lounge is open to passengers up to four hours before their flight. Access is available to first-class passengers, eligible business-class travelers, and Emirates Skywards Gold and Platinum members, even when flying in Premium Economy or economy class. For other passengers, paid entry is an option, though availability may vary. According to Emirates, the cost for entry to lounges outside Dubai is 155 dollars before taxes, or 125 dollars for Skywards members, with local taxes added to these amounts.
