Performance explores solitude and solidarity

Mighty Pact, a performance by the Compagnie Ma’, examines the shift from isolation to unity, focusing on the body as a site of memory, resilience, and human connection. It highlights how vulnerability and doubt can lead to empathy and shared purpose through movement and expression.

Dance style blends contemporary and KRUMP

The piece combines contemporary dance with KRUMP, a style of street dance known for its aggressive, physical movements and roots in resistance. This fusion is developed through a process of listening, conflict, and mutual transformation, creating a dynamic and emotionally charged performance.

Collaborative team creates a microcosm

On stage, six artists—four dancers, a live composer-guitarist, and an actress-singer—form a small group representing broader societal interactions. The performance integrates visual design by Abys2fly, live music by Michael Avron, and textile art by Jean-Robert Koudogbo, balancing themes of power and fragility, intensity and sensitivity.

Creative contributors and roles

Mighty Pact is a choreographic manifesto where dance becomes a symbolic agreement or commitment to connection. The original concept was by Marion Alzieu, with contributions from multiple artists in various roles, including acting, dramaturgy, and costume design. Each participant plays a specific part in shaping the performance’s artistic vision.

Production and support details

The performance is produced by Compagnie Ma’ with support from several institutions, including Malraux, the national stage of Chambéry, and Le Phare, the National Choreographic Center of Le Havre Normandy. It also benefits from residency programs and funding from regional and local authorities.
