Sony has unveiled three new tower-style party speakers as part of its ULT Power Sound lineup: the ULT Tower Max, ULT Tower 7, and ULT Tower 5. Designed for home parties and events, these speakers offer enhanced connectivity options such as USB-C, RCA, and XLR ports for wired connections. They also feature improved lighting systems with up to 100 LEDs, allowing for synchronized light shows that react to music. The largest model, the ULT Tower Max, weighs 121 pounds and is priced at $1,499.99. The smaller ULT Tower 7 and ULT Tower 5 are more portable, offering battery life of up to 30 and 20 hours, respectively, and both have IPX4 certification, which means they are splash-resistant. The new speakers have a more modern, streamlined design, with lighting integrated into the front panels of the cabinets. They use circular woofers, a design element introduced in earlier models, and ULT DUCT technology to enhance bass depth. The ULT Tower Max is the most powerful, featuring three woofers, two mid-range speakers, and two tweeters, powered by an amplification system that can deliver up to 2150 watts. The ULT Tower 7 has two woofers, two mid-range speakers, and two tweeters with 420 watts of power, while the ULT Tower 5 uses a single woofer and two tweeters with 300 watts of amplification. All models can be used in both horizontal and vertical orientations and include features like Sound Field Optimization, which adjusts the sound based on the acoustics of the room. New sound profiles such as FLAT and LIVE, along with bass boost buttons labeled ULT1 and ULT2, allow users to customize the audio experience. The speakers support Party Chain functionality using Auracast technology, which enables synchronization between multiple units. They can also be paired with the optional Sony ULTMIC13 wireless microphone. The Sony Sound Connect app provides access to features like a band equalizer, lighting controls, and wireless chaining, giving users more flexibility in how they use the speakers. The ULT Tower 5, ULT Tower 7, and ULT Tower Max will be available starting in September 2026, priced at 400, 600, and 1500 euros respectively. The ULT Tower Max will compete with the JBL PartyBox 720, which is priced at 900 euros—600 euros less than Sony's top model. The smaller ULT Tower 5 and ULT Tower 7 are expected to face competition from similarly priced JBL models, making the market for high-end party speakers more competitive.
