Dyson has reintroduced itself to the robot vacuum market with three new models: the flagship R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV, the R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry, and the R1 Nurovi Dry. These products aim to offer advanced cleaning solutions with features tailored to different household needs. The R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV stands out with a UV light that detects invisible stains, such as those left by sugary drinks or milk. This feature allows the robot to scrub the area before the mess becomes sticky or starts to emit an odor, improving both cleanliness and odor control. The R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry introduces a unique mopping system that uses rounded 'Reuleaux' triangles. These shapes rotate in an eccentric motion to clean hard-to-reach corners more effectively. The design was first developed in 2019 but has only now been integrated into a product. For users who prefer a simpler option, the R1 Nurovi Dry is a vacuum-only model, ideal for those who are skeptical of robotic mops or looking for a more budget-friendly choice. Dyson has also made improvements to its side sweepers, which were initially criticized by the company's founder, James Dyson, for potentially scattering dirt. Using advanced geometry from its conical cleaner heads, Dyson has redesigned the sweepers to be more effective and less prone to wrapping hair. According to Nathan Lawson Mclean, a senior design manager at Dyson, these changes ensure the sweepers are both efficient and controlled in their operation. To assist users with setup, Dyson has launched a new service called 'Dyson Concierge,' which includes a 'white glove' onboarding experience. This service offers a free, human-assisted setup through a video call, addressing concerns about the complexity of setting up robot vacuums. The R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV is currently not available in some regions and is expected to launch in the UK and Australia in early 2027.
