Apple's new Home Collection brings smart home tech to the US, Canada, and UK, but faces EU restrictions due to Siri AI disputes.
Apple launches new smart home devices
Apple has unveiled a new line of smart home devices called the Home Collection, developed in collaboration with LG and Schneider Electric. These devices include cameras, thermostats, and locks that can be controlled through a new smart screen called HomeView.HomeView features and limitations
The HomeView, announced on October 13, 2026, functions as a central hub for home automation. It includes a 6.98-inch display, a True Tone system, a 12-megapixel camera, and four microphones. It runs on an A18 chip and includes apps like FaceTime, Messages, and Safari, but does not support the App Store.Availability and regional restrictions
The HomeView will not be sold in the European Union due to the absence of Siri AI on iOS in the region. This decision stems from a disagreement between Apple and European authorities. As a result, the Home Collection will also not be available in France.Devices included in the Home Collection
The Home Collection includes four connected cameras from LG, such as a video doorbell with a 2.5 K camera, an outdoor camera with night vision, and indoor and outdoor models. LG also offers a smart deadbolt lock that can be unlocked using an iPhone or Apple Watch, along with a numeric code. Schneider Electric contributes a smart thermostat and a humidity and temperature sensor.Compatibility and future availability
These devices support the Thread and Matter platforms, which ensure compatibility with different smart home ecosystems. The Home Collection will be available in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom starting in December 2026, with some accessories launching in early 2027. Prices range from $40 to $399, with video history stored in iCloud+ through subscription plans.New Apple products and EU restrictions
Apple also announced the Apple TV 4K (2026) with an A19 chip and the HomePod mini 2. Both of these products, like the Home Collection, will not be available in the EU due to the Siri AI issue. The HomeView is priced at $299 and will be available for pre-order starting October 13, with marketing beginning in November.
