Rainbow Six Tactics, a new turn-based tactics game inspired by the popular Rainbow Six franchise, introduces gameplay features aimed at encouraging players to use a wider variety of characters rather than relying on their favorite Operators. The game's director, Martial Potron, explained that new systems such as fatigue and injury will push players to experiment with different Operators across various missions. In Rainbow Six Tactics, Operators can become injured or fatigued during missions, which may temporarily take them out of commission. This design choice highlights the human element of the game's characters, making players aware that these special agents can be sidelined for some time if they are hurt or overworked. Unlike in Rainbow Six Siege, where players regain full health after each round, this new system reflects the real-world risks and limitations of combat operations. The fatigue system adds another layer of strategy, requiring players to constantly adjust their team composition based on the mission's demands. While this might initially feel challenging, Potron emphasized that the game will guide players in choosing the best Operators for specific scenarios. For example, a mission focused on rescuing targets might not be well-suited for an Operator like Ash, who relies on explosives, and instead call for someone with better close-range combat skills. Rainbow Six Tactics is set to release in 2027 for multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The game aims to bring fresh mechanics and strategic depth to the Rainbow Six series while maintaining the core themes of teamwork and tactical planning.
