Voice recording feature added to Gemini Notebook

Gemini Notebook, a tool within the Google ecosystem, has introduced a voice recording feature in version 1.63.1002728510 for Android and iOS. This new feature allows users to record audio by pressing the microphone icon in the "Sources" tab of the application.

Transcription appears after upload

Once a recording is completed, the audio file is sent to Google's servers, and an automatic transcription appears a few seconds later. However, the feature requires an internet connection to be fully operational.

Offline recordings remain in a loading loop

While audio recordings can be done offline, the files remain stuck in a loading loop until the device is connected. During this time, users cannot listen to the recording or view its transcription within the application.

Recorded files persist in app even after deletion

Recorded files are accessible on the device under "Recordings > Notebook," but they cannot be deleted while loading, as the system displays a "Loading in progress" message. Additionally, audio files remain accessible in "Recordings > Notebook" even after the corresponding notebook has been deleted from the application.

Recording duration limited to one hour

Another limitation is that the recording duration is capped at one hour, which may be inconvenient for users needing to record extended sessions. Alongside this, Google has launched a podcast generator in 50 languages as part of the same update.
