A new sleeper train service connecting Brussels and Milan began operating on 9 September, offering overnight travel between the two European cities for as little as £26. The European Sleeper night train departed from Milano Garibaldi at 4:45pm local time on Wednesday, 9 September, for its first journey to Brussels, arriving at 11:42am at Brussels-Midi station the next morning. Along the way, the train will stop at nine other stations, including Como S. Giovanni on the shores of Lake Como, and Swiss towns such as Bellinzona and Göschenen. The train makes its final evening stop at Aarau, a Swiss town, at 10:55pm before continuing through the night in western Germany, arriving in Cologne at 8am the next morning. It then stops in Aachen before heading into Belgium, passing through Verviers, and arriving in Brussels. The return journey from Brussels to Milan will depart just after 7pm on Thursday, 10 September, arriving in Milan at 11:40am. Currently, the train runs from Brussels on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays, while the return journey from Milan operates on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Starting from 14 December, European Sleeper will add stops in Antwerp, Belgium, and the Dutch cities of Breda and Eindhoven to the route. After this change, departures from Brussels will be on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, while northbound trains from Milan will depart on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. The Brussels-Milan route is the third operated by European Sleeper, which also runs night train services connecting cities like Berlin, Prague, and Amsterdam. The service was originally scheduled to start in June but was delayed due to track maintenance in Germany. The sleeper train offers four classes of travel. Budget class starts at €29.99 (£26) per person one way and includes a seat. A couchette bed, which is a small sleeping compartment, is available from €49.99 (£43), including ticket, reservation, luggage, and bed linen. Passengers can upgrade to “Comfort Standard” from €99.99 (£87) or “Comfort Plus” from €129.99 (£113), which includes breakfast.
