TCL has unveiled its new P80 series of smartphones at the 2026 edition of IFA Berlin, a major consumer electronics trade show held annually in Germany. The series includes three models: the P80 Ultra, P80 Pro, and P80. The first two models are highlighted by TCL’s nxtPaper technology, a display innovation that mimics the texture and appearance of paper, similar to what is found on e-readers. This technology is combined with AMOLED displays, which are known for their vibrant colors and deep contrasts, to reduce glare and reflections while maintaining visual clarity.
The P80 Ultra is the flagship model, featuring a large 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,200 nits, a 1.5K resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. It has ultra-thin 1.38mm bezels and a large 5,800mAh battery for extended use. The camera system includes a 50MP main lens, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens for zooming, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies. The P80 Pro is a slightly less powerful version of the Ultra, lacking the periscope telephoto camera. The P80, the most basic model, does not include the nxtPaper display option and has fewer features overall.
Pricing for the P80 series starts at €549 (about $640 / £470 / AU$890) for the P80 Ultra, €429 (about $500 / £370 / AU$690) for the P80 Pro, and €349 (about $400 / £300 / AU$570) for the P80. These prices position the devices as mid to high-end smartphones, competing with other flagship models from major manufacturers.
In addition to the new phones, TCL also showcased nxtPaper-equipped tablets, including the TCL Tab A1 and the larger A1 Plus. These tablets are available with or without the nxtPaper display option. The TCL Note A1, which features nxtPaper, has been especially praised for its suitability for drawing. Its accompanying stylus provides a natural feel, much like writing or drawing on actual paper. The Note A1 includes a 1.5-inch, 120Hz display, an 8,000mAh battery for long use, an octa-core processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
