Geely Auto expands in Europe with tailored models and tech, aiming to meet local preferences and launch a Europe-specific vehicle.
Geely enters French market
Geely Auto, a brand under the Geely group, has been present in Europe for some time through its portfolio of brands including Smart, Polestar, and Volvo. However, the brand itself only arrived in France in April 2026. Since its arrival, Geely has been adapting its strategy to better align with European customer expectations. The company plans to modify its existing models to better suit local preferences rather than revolutionizing its range.Current models in France
Geely currently offers electric city car E2 and SUV E5 in France, competing with models like the R5 E-Tech and Volkswagen ID. Polo. According to Dennis Weinel, director of product definition for Geely, the company is working on adapting the Flyme infotainment system to better meet European needs. The second generation of Flyme will include features such as multitasking, split-screen display, more relevant information, and customizable widgets, with plans to launch it next year.Adapting the Galaxy Cruiser
In addition to adapting existing models, Geely Auto is preparing to launch a modified version of the Galaxy Cruiser in Europe. This 4x4, designed for off-road use, shares its platform with the Lotus Eletre X (plug-in hybrid). The company also plans to unveil its first model specifically designed for Europe next year. This model will be developed at Geely's European headquarters in Milan and is intended primarily for the European market, with potential exports to other regions.
