SFR, a major French telecommunications operator, has shared internal documentation for its upcoming **Box 10** router before officially announcing it. According to a report from MacGeneration on October 1st, the company's support pages now describe this new Wi-Fi 7 device in detail. SFR plans to offer Wi-Fi 7 to customers who do not choose its most expensive subscription plan. Currently, the Fibre Power packages priced at 36.99 euros and Fibre Power S at 29.99 euros per month come with the **Box 8**, a router limited to Wi-Fi 6. The **Box 10+**, introduced in July 2025, was SFR's first Wi-Fi 7 router, but it is reserved for the Fibre Premium subscription, which costs 45.99 euros per month. In February 2026, Altice France, the parent company of SFR, announced the **Box 10** on X, stating it would be "accessible to all customers." However, the company did not provide technical details at the time. The **Box 10** features two Wi-Fi 7 bands and a maximum speed of 2 Gb/s. It has a similar design to the **Box 10+**, with a vertical casing, two black panels, and a small E-Ink screen on the side. SFR claims the device consumes 9.4 watts of electricity. However, it is limited to Wi-Fi 7 on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, lacking the 6 GHz band found in the **Box 10+**, which is less crowded and can offer faster speeds when near the router. In terms of wired connections, the **Box 10** includes two 2.5 Gb/s Ethernet ports, two 1 Gb/s ports, a telephone RJ45 jack, and a USB-C port. This setup allows a computer connected via cable to reach 2 Gb/s, but only if the subscription plan supports it. The **Box 10+**, in contrast, includes a 10 Gb/s port and three 1 Gb/s ports. So far, no official price or release date has been set for the **Box 10**, and it is not yet listed on SFR's website. The launch date, the subscription packages that will include it, and any potential price changes remain unknown. SFR is entering the Wi-Fi 7 market later than its competitors. Free offers the **Freebox Pop**, Orange provides the **Livebox S**, and Bouygues Telecom launched its **Bbox** in January 2026, all of which include more affordable Wi-Fi 7 routers with similar two-band capabilities. At SFR, access to faster speeds beyond 2 Gb/s still requires the Fibre Premium subscription, which is one of four fiber offers from the four major operators that can reach up to 8 Gb/s. Meanwhile, Free's **Freebox Pop S** already supports 5 Gb/s. The **Box 10** is being released as SFR faces a potential takeover by Bouygues Telecom, Free, and Orange, a case currently under review by the Competition Authority. The European Commission sent the case back to the Authority on July 15, 2026, and the investigation is expected to take at least eighteen months.
