Israeli forces have killed two Palestinian teenagers in the village of al-Mughayyir, which is surrounded by Israeli settlers and military personnel. The victims, 16-year-old Khalil Abu Alia and 19-year-old Omar al-Nassan, were shot during an incident that occurred as a group of settlers entered the village with police and military support to take sheep from a Palestinian home. The shooting happened shortly after sunset, with witnesses saying that snipers were positioned on rooftops and that both boys were shot before they could reach a hospital. According to an English teacher from the village, Waheed Abu Naim, the two boys were among several students from the al-Mughayyir boys school who have been targeted by Israeli forces this year. Other victims include a 17-year-old football player, two 14-year-olds, and the teacher’s own brother, who was killed by settlers earlier this year. Abu Naim said the school has been preparing for the new semester by building a higher wall and reinforcing gates, as the village has been under increasing restrictions for weeks. At least eight families have left the village in recent days due to difficulties in commuting to work, and the school now faces the risk of losing many of its teachers. In a separate incident, Israeli forces have demolished the homes of 12 Palestinian families in the community of Khirbet a-Taban in the South Hebron Hills, leaving all 70 residents, including 28 children, homeless. The Israeli-Palestinian rights group B’Tselem reported that all buildings, water cisterns, and other structures were destroyed. This marks the 66th Palestinian community erased from the West Bank since October 2023, with nearly 5,000 people forced from their homes, many of them children. An Israeli military spokesperson said the operations were part of "enforcement activity" against illegal construction in a military training area known as Firing Zone 918. The area, designated as such in 1981, has been the focus of efforts to expel Palestinian residents, despite legal challenges. While Palestinian communities have been systematically displaced, Israeli settlements have expanded within the zone, including 11 outposts housing settlers known for violent behavior. These outposts have not been targeted for removal.
