At the IFA 2026 trade show in Berlin, Segway Navimow introduced the H5 Pro, a robotic lawnmower with a unique extendable robotic arm. This innovation allows the mower to move its cutting disc up to the edges of the garden, ensuring a more thorough and even cut. The device was recognized with a technological award for its ability to mow without leaving residual strips of uncut grass—commonly found near walls, flower beds, and fences. The H5 Pro’s robotic arm, named EdgeMaestro, is retractable and can extend the cutting disc up to 7.7 centimeters beyond the main body of the mower. This is different from some competitors, who use a separate rotating line for edge finishing. Navimow claims that using the same cutting disc throughout the lawn ensures a consistent height across the entire yard, without the need for delicate extra parts. The arm moves in all directions, adjusts for uneven ground, and retracts automatically when it encounters obstacles like garden lights or posts. The H5 Pro also features a rake module that gathers grass blades from the edges and feeds them into the cutting disc, improving efficiency. It uses dual guidance wheels to reduce friction and move smoothly along garden boundaries. The mower is equipped with a four-wheel drive system that allows it to climb slopes as steep as 80% (about 38.6 degrees) and navigate over obstacles up to 6 centimeters high. A rear suspension system helps maintain stable contact with the ground, while advanced navigation combines lidar, three cameras, and an NRTK satellite positioning system—eliminating the need for a separate RTK antenna. To protect wildlife, especially hedgehogs, the H5 Pro includes VisionFence, a 360-degree detection system that uses a camera and thermal infrared sensors. This system can detect small animals even in low light or at night, when hedgehogs are more active. If an animal is detected, the mower stops immediately and changes course to avoid harm. Navimow has partnered with Igelhilfe Schulzendorf, a German hedgehog protection organization, to support wildlife conservation efforts. The company also encourages users to designate a “wild corner” in their garden, marked as a restricted zone in the mower’s app. While no official price has been set, some reports suggest it may cost over 2,000 euros. Navimow plans to launch the H5 Pro in early 2027, likely in the spring, though an exact date has not been announced.
