Hyundai, a major car manufacturer based in South Korea, is working on two new electric vehicles: the Ioniq 4 and Ioniq 7. These models are intended to fill gaps in Hyundai’s current lineup of electric cars, which already includes a range of vehicles from small models like the Ioniq 3 to larger ones like the Ioniq 9. Most of Hyundai’s current electric models are designed for city driving, such as the Ioniq 3, Kona Electric, and Ioniq 5. Above the Ioniq 5, customers can choose between the Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 9. The Ioniq 4 is expected to be a more spacious and comfortable option compared to the Ioniq 3, offering a better experience for daily use. Meanwhile, the Ioniq 7 is likely to be a larger SUV that could compete with the upcoming Volkswagen ID. Tiguan, which is expected to launch in early 2027. Both vehicles are likely to be SUVs, but of different sizes. The Ioniq 4 and Ioniq 7 are expected to share technical parts with other vehicles in Hyundai’s family of brands. When asked if the Ioniq 4 and Kia EV3 (a similar electric vehicle from Hyundai’s sister brand Kia) would share components, a senior product manager from Hyundai Europe said, "Honestly, I can’t answer this question. To be followed." This suggests that the Ioniq 4 and Kia EV3 might use the same 400V platform, batteries, and power systems, which would likely mean similar performance and efficiency. The Ioniq 7 could be built using an 800V electrical system, a technology that is becoming more common in the electric vehicle market due to its benefits in charging speed and efficiency. However, Hyundai has not officially confirmed details about the price or where these models will be produced. These factors could influence whether buyers in France are eligible for government incentives to purchase electric vehicles. More information about the Ioniq 4 and Ioniq 7 is expected to be released in the coming months.
