Students from École du Nord present bold, myth-inspired performances exploring social structures and vengeance at Théâtre du Nord.
Students present personal performances
Students from the Mise en scène, Écriture et Dramaturgie program at the École du Nord are showcasing their personal performances in the form of sketches this season. These performances are part of their training and highlight the future of theater.Zinée’s haunting return
In a city in the south of France, Zinée returns to the parking lot of a supermarket where something happened and continues to haunt her. The setting is both familiar and unsettling, drawing the audience into a world where the past lingers.Frozen time and movement
Between the laundromat and the run-down strip club, Yuna and Leyla, two cashiers, seem frozen. Time has stopped, creating a tension that is broken when Zinée places her feet on the scorching asphalt, opening a breach that sets the scene in motion.Mythology in a contemporary world
The Furies, figures from ancient mythology known as vengeful goddesses charged with punishing crimes, appear in this contemporary setting. Ella Amstad Ngoko uses this mythological reference to invent a new mythology where tragic brutality comes from social structures rather than the gods.New mythology and reflection
In this new mythology, the myth becomes a tool for thinking about our capacity to act today. The production explores themes of vengeance, time, and the impact of social structures on individual lives.Performance details
