New program to boost local commerce

Parcours Territoires, a new initiative by the CCI Gard, is designed to help local governments improve the commercial appeal of their town and village centers. The program focuses on adapting to future changes in commerce and aims to support local businesses through strategic planning and collaboration.

Support from local leaders

Éric Giraudier, president of the CCI Gard, emphasized that local commerce has a future and that the program is not a temporary solution but a long-term effort. He called it a "collective adventure," highlighting the commitment to sustained development in local trade.

Partnerships and involvement

The initiative is being launched in partnership with the communes of Beaucaire and Sommières, with other towns expected to join soon. Florence Levy, a CCI Gard council member, explained that the program will involve consultations with local stakeholders and merchants to create a detailed plan for commercial development.

Focus on practical steps

The program includes analyzing current commercial offerings, assessing the appeal of town centers, and developing a roadmap for local governments. This approach is meant to help them set clear priorities and implement actions that promote commercial growth in their areas.

Mayors' positive outlook

Mayors of participating towns believe the program is the right step forward. Stéphane Porret of Sommières noted that their town center receives many visitors but still faces challenges. He expressed confidence that the initiative will help address these issues.

Revitalizing town centers

Nelson Chaudon, mayor of Beaucaire, highlighted the need to restore the town center's appeal, which has declined over time. He mentioned plans to revitalize National Street and create new commercial areas, showing a shared determination among local leaders to tackle the challenges facing their communities.
