New The Sims 4 update released

The latest major update for The Sims 4 has been available since the evening of October 27, 2026, bringing over 150 fixes, dozens of free contents for the base game, and highly requested new features such as new body customization options and a complete overhaul of the kitchen and food system. The update, version 1.129.39.1030, is available on consoles, PC, and Mac.

New free content added

This update adds new free content, including two new hairstyles, several outfits such as a cardigan and a dress, vintage items reminiscent of a grandmother's house, four pre-defined looks, and a fully furnished room that has a naphthalene scent. The update also introduces the ability to disable weight and muscle mass variations for Sims, either generally or individually, providing players with more control over their Sims' body shapes.

Food and culinary improvements

In terms of food and culinary aspects, the update rebalances the prices and calories of food and drinks, adds more than 375 existing dishes to the family recipes, and introduces a "Quick Decorate" option for pastries. Players can now block television access based on the Sim category, preventing adults from using a child's TV.

Bug fixes and visual improvements

Patch notes highlight several fixes, including resolving issues with endless loading when placing lots, updating the Navmesh for better efficiency, solving a problem that caused an infinite white screen when loading some affected save files, and fixing issues with Sims being blocked after a nap or other interactions. Additionally, the update addresses visual corruption during werewolf transformations and ensures newborn Sims representing reincarnated Sims are correctly added to existing households.

Enhanced food and quality of life changes

The update also improves the experience with food, drinks, and meals through bug fixes, adjustments, and new features. Sims now prefer leftovers when hungry and can more easily access food from refrigerators. Prices and calories for all food and drink items have been updated to be more consistent and logical.

Future updates confirmed

Quality of life improvements include the ability to lock televisions similarly to computers, moving self-interactions into a new "Sim Options" category, and improving the save experience for players who have not played for a long period. Maxis has confirmed that this will be the last major update of the year, with a more modest patch planned for December and a significant update expected at the beginning of 2027.
