The Irish Open will be held from 1 to 4 July in 2027, as announced by the DP World Tour, the organization that oversees professional golf tournaments in Europe and beyond. The event, which was recently won by Irish golfer Shane Lowry at Doonbeg, has been moved to this earlier date to accommodate the Ryder Cup, a prestigious team competition between Europe and the United States, scheduled for 17-19 September. This adjustment will also shift the timing of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, which will now take place the week after the Ryder Cup. As a result, the French Open will be moved to 7-9 September to make room for these changes. The Irish Open had previously been held in July before being moved to September in 2023. In 2027, it will be played at the K Club immediately before the Scottish Open and the Open Championship, two of the most important tournaments on the golf calendar. This timing is significant as it falls during the European Ryder Cup qualifying process, which will conclude at the British Masters on 22 August. Rory McIlroy, one of the top golfers in the world, has confirmed his participation in the Irish Open, though he expressed uncertainty about how many other players will join him, noting that some might prefer the Scottish Open the following week. The DP World Tour’s 2027 schedule includes 42 tournaments across 24 countries, marking a global presence for the tour. Three events will make a return in 2027: the Hong Kong Open, the Singapore Open, and the Open de Portugal. The season will start in 2024 with the Australian PGA Championship in Sydney, running from 26 to 29 November, and will end in 2027 with the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, scheduled for 11 to 14 November. This extensive schedule reflects the growing international appeal of professional golf and the DP World Tour’s efforts to expand its reach across different regions.
