The 2027 Ryder Cup, a prestigious golf competition between teams from Europe and the United States, will be held from September 17 to 19 at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland. This event, which has a long history of fierce competition and camaraderie, will see Team Europe, captained by former world No. 1 golfer Luke Donald, face off against the U.S. team, led by new captain Jim Furyk. Furyk takes over from Keegan Bradley and will have access to top American players such as world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, world No. 3 Cameron Young, and U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark. Qualification for Team Europe will be determined by the top six players on the Ryder Cup points list as of August 22, 2027. In case of ties, the Official World Golf Ranking as of August 16, 2027, will be used to break them. Luke Donald will then select the remaining six players during the week starting August 30, 2027. As of August 25, 2025, current contenders in the top six include Joe Dean (England), Shane Lowry (Ireland), Jacob Skov Olesen (Denmark), Nacho Elvira (Spain), Niklas Norgaard (Denmark), and Harry Hall (England). Rory McIlroy, known for his strong Ryder Cup record, is expected to qualify automatically and is likely to be a key player for Europe. Other players in contention include Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Ludvig Aberg, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tyrrell Hatton, Viktor Hovland, Jon Rahm, Justin Rose, and several others. Jon Rahm’s eligibility is still uncertain due to his association with the DP World Tour, but he is expected to be selected if eligible. Justin Rose, despite his age, may be chosen again, potentially marking his final Ryder Cup appearance. Shane Lowry, who recently won the Irish Open, is expected to be included, while Rasmus Hojgaard remains in contention despite inconsistent recent form. Aaron Rai, who has won a major championship, is a strong candidate for his Ryder Cup debut. Alex Fitzpatrick, who has earned a PGA Tour card, is also in the mix. Players like Sepp Straka and Kristoffer Reitan may be considered for wildcard selections. The final team composition will depend on the performances and form of these players over the next 12 months.
