A fire near train tracks in the London Paddington area has caused significant disruption to rail services, including the cancellation of trains heading to Heathrow Airport. According to National Rail, the fire led to an electricity failure, blocking all rail lines between Paddington and Heathrow. As a result, cancellations and delays are expected to continue until 7:15 PM. Social media posts show large clouds of smoke rising from the area, indicating the severity of the incident. Great Western Railway (GWR) has cancelled services to Reading, and the Elizabeth line has been partially suspended. Heathrow Express confirmed that no trains are operating in either direction between Paddington and Heathrow. The airport has advised passengers to plan for extra travel time, as the Piccadilly line—another route to the airport—is also experiencing delays. Transport for London (TfL) reported that the Elizabeth line is suspended between Paddington and Heathrow terminals four and five, as well as between Paddington and Reading. Additionally, the line extending to Abbey Wood is facing severe delays. Across the Piccadilly line, delays are widespread due to an earlier incident involving a trespasser at Hammersmith. GWR has warned that trains may be cancelled, delayed, or end their service at Reading, with disruptions expected to continue until 7:00 PM. The London Fire Brigade has been contacted for comment, but no further details have been released yet. Passengers are being urged to check real-time updates from their respective transport providers for the latest information on service changes and alternative travel options.
