A groundbreaking collaboration between Fanny de Chaillé and Thomas Hirschhorn transforms a museum into a living theater for 60 days.
Unusual collaboration in Bordeaux
The Capc Musée d'art contemporain de Bordeaux and the tnba, a national dramatic center in Bordeaux, are collaborating on an unusual project. Stage director Fanny de Chaillé and artist Thomas Hirschhorn are combining their artistic approaches in a new exhibition called Quoi qu'il en soit.Exhibition details and timeline
The exhibition, Quoi qu'il en soit, will run from November 12, 2026, to January 10, 2027. It is a collective and immersive experience that lasts 60 days. The project is the result of over 20 years of collaboration and friendship between Fanny de Chaillé and Thomas Hirschhorn.Transforming the museum space
During the exhibition, the Capc museum will transform its space and rhythm. The project aims to break down traditional museum and theatrical experiences, turning the space into a permanent place for life and exchange. This is a departure from the usual museum setting.Art installation and school relocation
At the center of the museum, Thomas Hirschhorn will build a monumental ruin using materials like cardboard, tape, and wood. This installation will break the symmetry of the museum’s architecture and serve as a temporary home for the tnba school. The structure reflects on the fragility of the world.Student-actors and daily performances
For 60 days, the 7th promotion of the tnba school will move its classes and daily life into this artificial ruin. Students will take classes in dance, interpretation, singing, and reading "on the spot," with the public present. Each day, the students will also perform an original play written and directed by Fanny de Chaillé.Artistic manifestos as inspiration
The project draws on artistic manifestos, which are documents that express aesthetic and political ideas. These manifestos have a long history, dating back to the early 20th century. They were used by artists to challenge boundaries between art and life and to create new movements or styles.Interactive and collective experience
The event is based on principles from Thomas Hirschhorn’s Présence et Production and Fanny de Chaillé’s extended theater. It invites visitors to interact with the artists and the space, encouraging collective thought rather than passive observation.Participants and educational team
The project includes the student-actors of the 7th promotion of the tnba School, as well as their pedagogical faculty. Stage direction assistance is provided by Jean-Luc Vincent and Christophe Ives. The exhibition is curated by Cédric Fauq and Sandra Patron.Exhibition dates and ticket information
The exhibition will be hosted by the Capc Musée d'art contemporain de Bordeaux from November 12, 2026, to January 10, 2027. It will be open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets range from 2 € for students to 8 € full price, with free entry on the first Sunday of each month under certain conditions.
