New immersive theatre production opens in 2026

A new immersive theatre production titled Poisson Blanc will open in November 2026. Created by the Ersatz company, the production explores themes of climate emergency, reality, and dreams using a unique blend of visual installation, sound performance, and augmented theatre.

Story follows two friends on a mysterious canoe trip

The story follows two friends, Nicole and Amélie, who go on a canoe trip to a piece of land in the middle of Lake Poisson Blanc in the Laurentides, Quebec. There, they meet Joshua, a man who has not slept for ten years and can no longer tell the difference between dream, reality, and nightmare.

Characters experience strange events and blurred reality

As the two women become insomniacs themselves, they experience strange events, including a fish washing up on the shore and a fire that starts and then extinguishes itself. The production questions whether the characters are waking from a nap or returning from a gentle death.

Immersive experience uses campfire and bone conduction headphones

The immersive experience takes place around a campfire, with the audience seated close to the actors and equipped with bone conduction headphones. This setup allows for a sensory approach that explores the relationship between humans and nature without being didactic.

Fantastical elements include giant insects and talking rocks

The fantastical universe of Poisson Blanc includes elements such as insects as large as birds and the ability to communicate with rocks. These surreal elements enhance the production's exploration of dreams and reality.

Production features contributions from multiple artists and designers

The production includes contributions from various artists, including Gwen Berrou, Aurélien Dubreuil-Lachaud, and Nicole Stankiewicz in the roles. Leonard Cornevin and Camille Panza are credited with dramaturgy, while Noam Rzewski is responsible for sound creation.

Technical design includes custom headphones and 3D printing

The design of bone conduction headphones is attributed to Régis Lomba - Makilab, Louvain-la-Neuve, with 3D printing provided by Trakk - fablab of Namur. Scenographic construction is handled by Ateliers du Théâtre de Liège, ensuring a cohesive and immersive experience.

Production supported by multiple institutions and grants

The production is supported by multiple institutions, including the Théâtre de Liège - Théâtre d'Europe, L'Agora - Scène nationale de l'Essonne, and others. Financial support comes from AMI - digital art grant from the Grand Est region, CITF (International Commission of Francophone Theatre), DRAC Grand Est, and the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles - theatre service.

Performance dates and duration announced

The production runs from 12 to 14 November 2026 at the Comédie de Colmar and lasts approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes.
