New album released by Philippe Katerine

Philippe Katerine released his new album, Planète bleue, on October 23, 2026. The album, described as both political and poetic, was recorded in a music studio in the Yvelines, just steps from his home.

Album's origins and collaborators

The album was born from a series of concerts in September 2025 and features instrumental tracks provided by producer Nk.F, a collaborator of the French group PNL. It addresses themes such as environmental issues, including protests against mega-basins in Sainte-Soline, and social dynamics, such as children being right-wing.

Inspiration and creative period

Katerine mentioned that the album was inspired by the need to create after a period of inactivity, quoting poet Christophe Tarkos. He also discussed his artistic process, noting that drawing helps him understand his work, and his song notebooks are filled with drawings.

Autumn exhibition and artistic movement

Katerine's news agenda for the autumn includes an exhibition at the Niort museum showcasing his "mignoniste" experiments, an artistic movement he launched during the lockdown to defuse violence through absurd actions. The Niort museum, celebrating its twentieth anniversary, granted Katerine a carte blanche for the exhibition, which includes his works alongside 120 others selected from 3,600 submissions from Poitou-Charentes.

Exhibition highlights and museum displays

Some of Katerine's paintings are currently on display at the Louvre-Lens as part of the exhibition Too cute, including a piece depicting a rabbit loaded by soldiers. He is preparing an exhibition for next year but has not yet revealed details.

Winter performance and collaboration

Katerine also announced a winter performance in duo with Dominique A, celebrating their long friendship. The performance, named after a song they sang together in 2007, Manque-moi moins, includes songs from both artists.

History of the collaboration

Katerine and Dominique A met in 1991 in Pouzauges in Vendée and have maintained a long-standing creative relationship. The performance was requested by the Printemps de Bourges and involves their accomplice Gaëtan Chataignier.

Childhood memories and career highlights

Katerine also mentioned his childhood memories of seeing Tour de France cyclists throw bottles into ravines, which made him emotional. His career highlights include his first album, Les Mariages chinois (1991), the success of Louxor j'adore (2005), a César for best actor in a supporting role in Le Grand Bain (2019), and his first exhibition dedicated to mignonism at the Bon Marché in Paris (2022).
