World Breastfeeding Week in France

From Monday, October 12, to Friday, October 16, France is hosting events as part of World Breastfeeding Week, also known as Semaine Mondiale de l’Allaitement Maternel (SMAM). These events aim to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and the support available to families.

Focus on family well-being

This year’s SMAM has the theme “breastfeeding, a springboard for life, supporting and strengthening what works.” The focus is on creating environments that support breastfeeding to improve the well-being of families and to help parents and future parents feel more confident and supported.

Healthcare centers prepare

The University Hospital Center (CHU) in Poitiers and its Châtellerault site are organizing a variety of awareness-raising actions. These include information stands and educational sessions aimed at the public, with a particular emphasis on providing practical support and knowledge.

Public events in Poitiers

From Tuesday, October 13, to Friday, October 16, information stands will be set up in the Auchan Poitiers Sud shopping gallery. Midwives and child nurses from the maternal and infant protection service in the Vienne department will be present, offering information and support to the public.

Breastfeeding cafes for support

Breastfeeding cafes will be held at various services within the Poitiers CHU. These cafes offer a space for future mothers and young parents to meet, share experiences, and receive support. Breakfasts are provided during these events, which are scheduled on specific days and times throughout the week.
