The 28th edition of the Grenoble Ciné Montagne Meetings will be held from October 13 to 17, 2026—three weeks earlier than in previous years. The festival will take place at the Palais des Sports, located in Paul Mistral Park in Grenoble, France. This annual event brings together film enthusiasts and outdoor sports lovers through five evenings of film screenings, conferences, workshops, and exhibitions. It also includes opportunities for attendees to meet athletes, directors, and female directors. The festival is sponsored by Solenne Piret, a five-time world para-climbing champion known for her achievements in adaptive climbing. This year’s program features a diverse selection of films that highlight adventure, perseverance, and the human spirit. One of the films, Cap or not cap?, directed by Jérôme Tanon, follows Solenne Piret as she attempts to climb the Grand Capucin, a challenging rock formation in the French Alps. Another film, Cherry on the cake, documents the climbing journey of Sean Villanueva and Nico Favresse in Greenland, showcasing their physical and mental endurance in extreme environments. Other notable films include Secret Rivers of the Nakanaï, which explores spelunking—cave exploration—in Papua New Guinea, and Winner gets cake, a documentary focusing on a fell running competition in Great Britain. Fell running is a type of long-distance running that takes place on rough, mountainous terrain. The final film in this selection is No fear of happiness, which tells the story of Oscar Burnham, a young man who lost his left hand in an accident but found a new purpose in sport. The Grenoble Ciné Montagne Meetings aim to bridge the worlds of cinema and outdoor sports, offering a unique platform for storytelling that emphasizes courage, exploration, and resilience. With its mix of documentaries and narrative films, the festival continues to attract both local and international audiences interested in the intersection of adventure and art.
