Gaming keyboard features adjustable switches

The SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL (Gen 3) is a gaming keyboard with adjustable magnetic OmniPoint 3.0 switches, allowing users to set the activation depth of each key between 0.1 and 4 millimeters. This third-generation model keeps the same look as earlier versions but includes features like Rapid Tap, Rapid Trigger, and double activation, which are now standard in high-end gaming keyboards.

Promoted model lacks a numeric keypad

The currently promoted version of the keyboard is the wired TKL model, which does not include a numeric keypad. This version is being sold at a discount, with prices ranging from 179.99 euros to 249.99 euros on Amazon, offering a potential savings of up to 70 euros. The keyboard includes acoustic foam, redesigned stabilizers, and factory-lubricated switches, enhancing the overall typing experience.

Design is simple and functional

The TKL version has a completely black design with straighter and more subdued lines compared to the full-size model, which retains the curved design of the first generation. While the design is described as less original, it is said to blend well with any desk setup. The main improvements are in the keystroke quality, with testers praising the excellent build and smooth keystroke experience.

Switches offer customization and protection

The magnetic OmniPoint 3.0 switches allow users to adjust the key activation depth, and the keyboard includes a protection mode to prevent accidental strokes on neighboring keys. The Rapid Tap feature prioritizes the last pressed key, which is useful for quick left-right movements in shooting games. However, these settings are only beneficial for users who intend to use them frequently.

Wired model is more affordable

The promoted model is a wired keyboard, which may not be ideal for all users, as the wireless version costs about 50 euros more. For players who want to customize each key individually, the Apex Pro TKL Gen 3 offers most of the necessary features.
