Solar panels on military base

Nexhos Énergies is planning to install 6,500 photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the Bordeaux Submarine Base. This will be one of the largest solar installations in the region, transforming a military site into a source of renewable energy.

Community-based energy sharing

The solar power plant, covering an area of approximately 13,000 square meters, will supply renewable electricity to businesses, associations, and institutions in the Bacalan neighborhood through a collective self-consumption operation managed by Rayon Commun. This model allows multiple users to share the energy produced.

Environmental impact and output

The project, initiated by Nexhos Énergies and Rayon Commun, aims to produce electricity equivalent to the consumption of 770 households and avoid the emission of 806 tonnes of CO2 per year. This represents a significant contribution to reducing the carbon footprint of the local area.

Energy distribution to nearby entities

The electricity generated will be shared with entities within a 2-kilometer radius, including the Food Bank and the Bassins des Lumières, under an ACC operation. This ensures that local organizations and institutions benefit from the renewable energy produced.

Timeline and future steps

Economic actors in Bacalan can reserve their electricity volumes by the end of 2026, with the first electricity distribution planned for the beginning of 2028 after planned works in 2027 and an agreement with Enedis. This timeline outlines the steps needed to bring the project to full operation.
