In October of the previous year, James Gunn, head of DC Studios and director of the latest Superman film, Man of Tomorrow, promoted the second season of Peacemaker (a Prime Video series for which he is also the creator) by calling it "the prequel of Man of Tomorrow" in a post on Instagram. He later reaffirmed the connection between the two when responding to a fan who expressed doubts that the series and the upcoming film were "directly linked." On Tuesday, October 6, when a journalist asked actor John Cena about Gunn's statement, Cena expressed surprise: "What the...? When did he say that?" The journalist, apparently taken aback by his reaction, stated that the director said that "very recently." However, the first time James Gunn officially announced that Man of Tomorrow would be closely linked to the second season of Peacemaker was one year ago, almost day for day. This explains the confusion in John Cena's eyes. "I know James personally," Cena said. "He's a very good friend. We continue to send each other the Peacemaker triton emoji, because it's very inclusive [in the series, Vigilante says it's her favorite emoji because it can mean 'joy, sadness, and everything in between'; note from the editor]." When asked if he had heard Gunn say the series and film were connected recently, Cena replied, "You say he said that recently? Well, unless he said it less than five minutes ago, I've never heard anything about it. And I'm pretty well informed about what James says, both publicly and privately, and I know nothing about this subject." After that, we don't want to sound conspiratorial, but if John Cena has proven one thing in recent years, it's that behind the muscles was a brilliant actor. In any case, it will be necessary to wait until July 2027 and the release of Man of Tomorrow to finally find out what it is about.
